GRAPHIC DESIGN AS MODERN ART, CONTEMPORY ART, OR CONCEPTUAL ART
To some of you, this may seem a little presumptuous… but some of these posters—in my mind—should fall into the category of conceptual art, based upon standards and definitions set by many notable modern fine art authorities. Text and images used in advertising wouldn’t necessary fall into a fine art category. But, text and imagery is an acceptable modern art and conceptual art form of expressing complex ideas.
As an artist, I’ll take the same liberty as Marcel Duchamp did using a urinal, or bicycle wheel in a stool. I have declared that these posters are modern art, contemporary fine art, or conceptual art. In fact, if need be, I’ll defend THIS commentary to be the same. So put that in your MoMA pipe and smoke it.
I’d love t have you as a regular guest at Artistic Life Studios.
